Bacteria are microscopic one-celled, prokaryotic organisms that belong to neither animal nor plant. Bacteria is everywhere in the world, some may cause infectious bacterial diseases ,but others are good and help animals digest food. E. coli is one bacteria found in American Samoa. Ecoli is a gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium of the genus Escherichia. It’s role in the ecosystem is to aid animals and digestion.

Protista are a very diverse kingdom. Organisms that don’t really fit anywhere else are protists. All Protist cells have a nucleus and live in most environments. Red Algae (found in the waters surrounding the American Samoa), are a large groups of algae that include many seaweeds that are mainly red in color. Their role in the ecosystem is to ultimate source of both cellular carbon and chemical energy for other organisms, and because of this are often called primary producers.
Fungi

A fungus is a unicellular or multicellular organism that obtains food through hyphae that grow into the food source. They produce spores or budding asexually. Can also reproduce sexually by fusing hyphae. Violet Coral (found in the near waters of the coastal lines of American Samoa), are widely distributed species of fungus that produces striking tubular, purple to pinkish-violet fruit bodies. The role of violet coral in the ecosystem is the foundation of many tropical ecosystems and provide livelihood, food, enjoyment and cultural significance for millions of people around the world.
